The cheapest and simplest STEP boilers for straw bales incl. accessories
(rape, cereal straw, hemp, Uteusha energy sorrel – squared and/or rounded bales)
Type and capacity range: STEP EKOPAL RM 40 ÷ 700 kW
Use
These simple boilers with storage tanks and low acquisition costs have been designed for hand operation (i.e. hand loading of a bale of straw, hand clearing and ignition). The burning process is controlled by an automatic control unit.
These boilers can be applied in smaller buildings with industrial environment (e.g. small industrial premises, farming buildings, larger houses, etc.).
1 – Flue gas outlet
2 – Water outlet into the heating system
3 – Combustion air supply
4 – Water inlet into the boiler
5 – Boiler draining
6 – Ignition slot
Boiler type options
A warm-water version and a hot-air version are the default types of the boilers.
Boiler description
The EKOPAL RM boiler consists of a water-cooled/air-cooled combustion box and an integrated tubing system forming a flue gas exchanger. The front part of the combustion chamber can be opened and serves for placing the bales of straw as well as a hand clearing. Flue gases going out of the combustion chamber are exhausted into the flue gas exchanger, and subsequently from the boiler to the chimney. The STEP EKOPAL RM boiler is equipped with a medium-pressure air fan including a choke, which can be adjusted automatically, and a control unit handling the combustion process according to adjustable parameters. The combustion chamber is filled up with either squared or rounded bales of straw. After the chamber is closed, the straw is ignited through a special slot in the wall of the boiler. Then the boiler’s control unit is activated to start the air fan.
The boilers are supplied with all fittings including insulation and plating. It is essential that the boiler be supplied inclusive the storage tank (see Boiler connection scheme).
Operation and control
The EKOPAL RM boiler utilizes a counter-flow combustion principle, which ensures a low CO level in the flue gases. The combustion process (amount of combustion air) is controlled depending on a temperature of the flue gases at the outlet from the boiler.
The warm-water boilers are designed to heat warm water up to 95°C.
Fuel
Squared bales of straw (rape&cereal straw, hemp, Uteusha energy sorrel), max. humidity 20 %; medium pressed, max. ash content 5 %, content of non-combustible matter (dust, sand): max. 0.4 %.
